Yvonne Lindsey Kohutek
June 15, 1935 - May 27, 2021

Yvonne Lindsey Kohutek of San Antonio, Texas completed her Life Journey of 85 years on May 27, 2021 and what a journey it was! Yvonne was born on June 15, 1935 in Corpus Christi to two wonderful parents, Bruce and Minnie Lindsey, and a few years later her loving brother Bruce Lindsey, Jr joined the family.

Yvonne grew up in a small town of Ingleside, Texas where everyone knew everyone and a firecracker of a girl like Yvonne engaged in many extracurricular school activities. She played in the school Band, acted in drama department theatre productions, was voted Band Sweetheart and was a Majorette.

In the fall of 1950 at Texas A&I College, Yvonne met B J Kohutek and following two and half years of courtship they married on June 13, 1953. BJ and Yvonne were blessed with three wonderful children – Robert, Larry and Sherry.

Yvonne was a sparkplug and game for almost any activity except hunting and fishing and not because she didn't like the idea but because she just couldn't sit still long enough to do it. It was that kind of unbridled energy that helped her flourish not only as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts and active parent in Boy Scouts and Little League but also in Church, community and politics.

Yvonne would often say that whatever we do in life must include God in it as God gave us each other and we are charged to be involved in our church, community and country. Such statements were often preceded by "Let me tell you". Yvonne was a proud member of Alamo Heights Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. She also participated in Bible study, Walk to Emmaus and Stevens Ministries. She was a member and former President of the Assistance League of San Antonio and served on the Cookbook Committee.

Yvonne was a member and two-time former President of the Alamo City Republican Women's Club. She worked in many political campaigns including those of Texas Governor Bill Clements and United State Senators Phil Graham and Lamar Smith. She was appointed to the inaugural Texas State Board of Licensing of Professional Counselors and served as Chairperson. Yvonne was honored by the Texas Federation of Republican Women and was named one of the Texas 10 Outstanding Republican Women.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents and son Larry Kohutek. Yvonne is survived by her husband of 68 years, B.J. Kohutek; children, Robert Kohutek and Sherry Sanford (Todd); daughter in law Jeri Kohutek McKinley; grandchildren, Justin Sanford, and Blake and Connor Kohutek, Michelle Sasser (Trebes) and Morgan Earles (Cole); 7 great grandchildren; brother, Bruce Lindsey Jr. (Judy); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.

Visitation will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary North from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Mission Burial Park North.

A memorial service will begin at 3:00 PM Monday, June 7, 2021 at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.
