Julia Elizabeth Bryant West was promoted to Glory surrounded by her family on Friday, November 2, 2018.

She was born on June 22, 1934, to the late Arthur C. Bryant and Hilda Butler Bryant. She was a native of Savannah Georgia and was a resident of the Peninsula for over 40 years. Mrs. West completed her secondary education in Savannah Georgia graduating from Beach High School. She also received a Certificate of Training as a Certified Nurse's Aide where she was employed in both military and civilian hospitals where she nurtured many children. She retired as a supervisor for a contractor at the Nasa Langley Research Center in 1994. Next to her love for God and family, was her love for children and for people. It was this love that prompted her to "adopt" every child she met as her own and she never met a "stranger". Her favorite hobby and one of her greatest gifts, was making ceramics. Mrs. West received many awards for beautiful ceramic artworks both in the United states and abroad. Mrs. West was active in both the church and the community. She was always available and willing to lend a helping hand.

She was a Deaconess and former Head Deaconess in the Langley AFB Gospel Service, a member of the Langley AFB Protestant Women of The Chapel, and a member and officer in the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Auxiliary Unit 6, Hampton Virginia.

Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband Julius West, Jr. and great granddaughter Anajia Patrice Hall. She leaves to cherish her memories six sons John D. Bryant of Williamsburg Virginia, Julius West III (Eleanor) of Charlotte North Carolina, Rev. Dr. Nathaniel D. West (La Nessa) of Richmond Virginia, Jonathan L. West (Marcia) of Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Minister James West of Hampton Virginia and Minister Julian E. West (Renetta) of Hampton Virginia; two daughters Minister Juliette Y. Williams (Billy) of Hampton Virginia and Debra A. West of Hampton Virginia; three brothers Charles Bryant (Betty) of Cleveland Ohio, Earl Bryant (Lonnie) California and Archie Bryant (Rose) of Savannah Georgia and one sister Florine Rox (Willie) of Cleveland Ohio, 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
