Mr. Ralph Eugene Nelson, age 91 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021. He was born December 19, 1929 in Rome, Georgia, the son of the late Eugene Dewitt Nelson and the late Gertrude Tippin Nelson. He was retired from the United States Air Force and had worked at Arnold Research following retirement. He enjoyed farming and gardening, and was a faithful member of Rotherwood First Congregational Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Nelson; sisters: Vivian Breed, Evelyn Gentry, and Miriam Collier; and brothers: Sherwin Nelson, Edwin Nelson, and Clarence Nelson. Survivors include his loving wife of seventy years, Mrs. Pauline Legg Nelson; sons: Greg Nelson and Doug Nelson; sister, Frances Collier; brother, George Nelson; grandchildren: Jennifer Hasty and Chris Nelson; great granddaughters: Carleigh, Paisleigh, Bayleigh, Oakleigh, and Trinity; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Jason Owens and Rev. Matt Moore officiating. The Deacons of Rotherwood will be seated as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in Rotherwood Church cemetery.
