Services for the Rev. G. Harold Roberts, 87, Lawrence, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Atchison. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Floral Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.

The Rev. Roberts died Friday at North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born June 26, 1903, in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He graduated in 1927 from William Jewel College, where he won national honors in debate and lettered in football and track. He received a doctor of divinity degree from Phillips University in Enid, Okla.

He was the minister emeritus of Frist Christian Church in Atchison, where he served for 24 years. After moving to Lawrence in 1971, he was the pastor of Bethany Park Christian Church for five years before retirement.

He also had held pastorates in Fayette, Mo., Paris, Mo., and Ottumwa, Iowa.

The Rev. Roberts was president of Christian Ministers Institutes in Missouri, Iowa and Kansas, the Kansas State Convention of Christian Churches and the Kansas Choir of Kansas University when Smith Hall was built and dedicated.

He married Ruth Breckenridge on April 20, 1929, in Olathe. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Dean, Brentwood, Tenn., and David, Lawrence; a daughter, Ruth Jeanettee Roberts, Lawrence; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
