Richard Lee Sheridan, affectionately known as Dick, 85, of Shirley passed peacefully with his son and daughter by his side on May 12, 2021.

Richard was inducted into the United States Navy in 1955, served as a Sonar Technician on the USS Kretchmer and honorably discharged in 1962. He was a retired electronics technician, avid golfer, sports fan, loved cribbage, poker, woodworking, bird watching, his paper with coffee and had an interesting love/hate relationship with squirrels. Richard was a kind loving soul that was always there with a listening ear. He enjoyed spending time with his family. One of his favorite pastimes was watching his son and grandson play hockey. His most notable quality was his unique sense of humor; the stories of which could be made into a book.

He is survived by his daughter Audrey L. Seidl and husband Mark T. Seidl of Shirley, son Richard J. Sheridan and wife Laurie A. Sheridan of Rutland and beloved former wife Joyce A. Sheridan of Rutland. He was the proud grandfather (Papa) of Casie Lee Hicks formerly of Westford, Joey W. Sheridan and Jenni M. Sheridan formerly of Pepperell and great grandfather to his rays of sunshine Emma and Ella Seidl of Leominster. Parents: Joseph Augustus Sheridan and Marie Frances Fester, Stepfather: George Joseph Copp. Predeceased siblings; Joan M. Ross and Robert M. Sheridan. Surviving Siblings and their spouses; Barbara A. Morrison of Melrose; Marie F. Copp and husband George of Melrose; Charles J. Sheridan and wife Louise of Melrose; James E. Sheridan and wife Kathy of Danvers; Joseph A. Sheridan of Raymond, New Hampshire; Sandra L. Crowley and husband Joel of Melrose. Also survived by sister-in-law Jean M. Sheridan of Melrose.

Burial Service will be held at Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475 on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 10 AM.
