WARREN — Michael Emerson Blake, 77, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital after a quietly courageous battle with Stage 4 lung cancer. He was born December 7, 1943, the eldest of three sons of Vivian and Carl Blake of Ashland. Michael graduated from Vienna High School in 1961 and the Youngstown Technological Institute in 1970. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 and was honorably discharged from service in 1970. A retiree of Packard Electric (1968-99), Mike enjoyed morning walks with friends, gardening, golfing, cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends for his kindness, loyalty, helpful and generous nature, sense of humor and colorful rants. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joan L. Ferrett; his daughter, Kendra Leeworthy, and her son, Logan; two younger brothers, Jeff (Velma) Blake of Ashland and Kevin (Debbie) Blake of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes, no public memorial services will be held, but loved ones are encouraged to enjoy a cold one or plant flowers in his honor.
