Joseph R. Ross, 75 quietly passed on March 6, 2021, at his home in Eagle River, Alaska.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife Doris, his children Michael, JaNice,' and Christine, and
his grandchildren Christopher, Cecelia, two snakes, a goldfish, a turtle, and a cat.
Joseph R. Ross, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was born on January 4, 1946 to the
late Alex Ross, Jr. and the late Lottie Patton, both of Baton Rouge, LA. Joseph was baptized by the late Rev. George R. Clark, Sr. at St. John Baptist Church. Joseph retired from the United States Air Force with an Honorable Discharge as a MSgt after 20 years. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he worked another twenty-three years for Alyeska
Pipeline Service Company. He slept, dreamed, and loved fishing with friends, family,
and his grandchildren.
Joseph's memories will be cherished by his brother-in-law, Byron (Ebra) Jackson, Washington D.C.; sister-in-laws Carolyn (Gerald) Coleman, Sandra Rutledge, and Jacqueline McClendon of Baton Rouge, LA; Aunts Janice Patton, Linda Patton-Joshua, and Lillie Patton; uncles Morris J. Griffin, Jr., Oliver Lee (Sharon) Batieste, III, and Stanley Patton of Baton Rouge, LA. He leaves behind his best friend, Charles Bell of Zachary, LA and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joseph was welcomed home by his son, Raymond M. Ross; parents, Alex Ross, Sr. and Lottie Patton; sister Juanita Ross Stewart; paternal grandparents, Alex Ross, Sr., and Mary Lou London Ross-Batieste; maternal grandparents, Robert Sr. and Anna Morgan Patton; uncles Robert Patton, Jr. and Louis Griffin; aunt Lola B. Patton; step grandfather, Oliver L. Batieste, Jr, and in-laws Thomas and Malinda Jackson.
Viewing and memorial will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, 1707 Bragaw St., Anchorage, AK on March 18th, 2021 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. Viewing will be streamed online at Legacyalaska.com. Go to "Live Streaming", then "Witzleben Chapel'. Stream will be available online for 30 days after service. Following will be a Military Honors Ceremony on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson at 1 pm. A recording will be available for viewing.
