Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Mae Martin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverends Larry Vaughn and Robert Dukes officiating. Interment will follow in Flatwoods Cemetery, Flatwoods, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mrs. Martin, 102, of Mora, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at The Woodlands Health Care Center, Leesville, LA.
She was a member of Spanish Branch Church of Mora, where she was very involved with teaching Sunday School until she was in her nineties. She was a retired clerk from K-Mart and will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, quilting, and gardening skills. She was also notorious for her generosity and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Needham and Eva Martin; her husband, Fred Martin; two brothers, Alton Martin and Lloyd Martin and two sisters, Avis Adams and Omera Jean.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Fred Martin and his wife, Joyce, of Dallas, TX.; one daughter, Sada Jackson and her husband, Thomas, of Simpson; three grandchildren, Teresa Roberts and her husband, David, of Gulf Breeze, FL., Matt Martin and his wife, Melissa, of Dallas, TX. and John Jackson and his wife, Angie, of Shreveport; and eleven great grandchildren.
