Walter served honorably first in the Air Force and then the Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Walter's experience in the Air Force and in the Army played a very important role in his life. He frequently pointed out that serving taught him the value of discipline, working hard, and the need for continual education. He was a life long student, photographer and musician… but his greatest passion was for piloting aircraft. He was a pilot and flight instructor in the Air Force and often spoke of those days.
Survived by his wife, his 2 children, and 3 grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous other family and friends who will miss him dearly
