Jean Evans, 76, passed away peacefully into the waiting arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. She was born in Columbus, OH, on November 19, 1945, to the late Milton and Margaret Hillegas and raised on the family farm in Genoa Township and Westerville area. Jean graduated from Westerville High School in 1963. She soon met the love of her life Harold Evans and married on May 9, 1964. They had two children, Kim and Tom and Jeans life revolved around her family. Jean had a caring and nurturing heart and was a babysitter for numerous children as she raised her own two. Through the years, she stayed involved in her childrens lives and worked tirelessly for organizations such as BWYAA, Big Walnut Music and Athletic Boosters. She was Mom to numerous Big Walnut Drill Team members and most of the football teams throughout her childrens school years. Jean later became a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Young Budd Unit 171, Westerville, OH and served as 1 st Vice President for about 25 years. She served as the Assistant to the Genoa Township Clerk and was later elected to the Township Clerk position where she retired in 1998 when her vision started to fail. Her diminished eyesight never deterred her from living life to its fullest. She loved to travel with her best friend Dinah and to cruise to numerous ports of call with her devoted husband and numerous friends and family. As her vision progressively got worse, she cherished time with family and friends. Jean is survived by her loving husband, Harold; daughter, Kim (Mark) Mann and son, Tom (Susie) Evans; grandchildren, Jessica, and Rebecca Mann, and Ashley and Alex Evans; and great grandson, Michelangelo Moore. Friends and family may be received at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Rd., Westerville, on Friday, June 4 from 5-8pm and at Genoa Baptist Church, 7562 Lewis Center Rd., Westerville, OH, on Saturday, June 5 from 10-11am with services starting at 11am. Pastor Wayne Booth officiating. Interment at Tussic Street Cemetery.
