The remains of Phillip Earhart, who died Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in Epworth, Ia., will arrive here tomorrow morning and will be taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. M. E. Melville, 4 Walling Court, whence the funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Services will be conducted at the house of Rev. Jones, pastor of the Methodist church in Epworth, who will accompany the remains to Davenport, assisted by Rev. I. C. Lemon, pastor of St. John's Methodist church. The remains will be interred at Pine Hill cemetery, with a private funeral.
Deceased was born in Blairsville, Pa. 90 years ago, and moved to Iowa Territory and settled near Fort Madison, in 1844. In 1849 he purchased a farm in Pleasant Valley, Ia., to which he moved in 1852 and lived for 32 years when he went to Epworth, his final home. He was a member of the Methodist church for 70 years. When his wife died one year and a half ago he had been married 62 years.
Five children survive him, Mrs. M. E. Melville of Davenport, Dr. Emma Earhart of Erie, Pa., W. F. Earhart of Menlo, Ia., C. H. Earhart of Audubon, Ia., and E. J. Earhart, who lived with his father in Epworth. Rev. R. N. Earhart of 1915 Arlington avenue is a brother.
