It is with sadden hearts we announce the transition of James T. Waldron, Jr. Warmly known to family and friends as Sonny Waldron. Sonny born July 5, 1943 departed this earth April 28, 2021.

A graduate of Roosevelt High School and a pre-med/biology graduate of the striking FAMU rattlers James was drafted into the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, serving this country at Camp Pendleton, San Diego, CA overseas in Chu Lai, Vietnam, and San Juan, Puerto Rico and was honorably discharged earning numerous meritorious medals for service.

James taught subjects in the field of science for the Palm Beach County School District at Roosevelt Junior High School. Later, moving on to work for the City of West Palm Beach in the departments of Parks and Recreation, Community and Urban Development and Human Resources, eventually becoming Director of Human Resources/ Relations for the City of Riviera Beach and the City of Palm Beach Gardens.

He coached and mentored youth in sports, particularly in Track and Field at Twin Lakes High School and Tennis for more than 40 years at Gaines Park, John Prince Park and the Delray Beach Tennis Center.

James T. Waldron, Jr. is preceded in death by his wife of more than 40 years Malvina A. Hines-Waldron; parents James T. Waldron, Sr., and Beatrice A. Powell-Waldron; sisters Betty Waldron and Mae W. Siders.

He is survived by his children Dr. Alma Waldron-Asuncion (Vincent) and TSgt. James T. Waldron, III. (Annie); grandson Tyler Asuncion, sister Alice D. Waldron also known as Avery Sommers, nephews Anthony Q. Siders (Shirley), Avery T. Siders (Chantel), niece Adria T. Siders, and host of other family members and friends.

At the request of the deceased, a closed private memorial-burial ceremony for James T. Waldron, Jr., will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL
