WATERLOO, Iowa --- James R. Anderson, 85, of rural Waterloo, died Sunday, June 30, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo. He was born Sept. 19, 1927, on the family farm in Black Hawk County, son of William Walker Anderson and Stella Annetta McMillin Anderson. On July 1, 1946, he married Hazel Marie Scott at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She died in 1997.

He graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1945. Mr. Anderson was an agricultural farmer all of his life, and his operation included dairy cattle. He was an active church member.

Survived by: two sons, Thomas (Wendy) and Mark (Lisa) Anderson; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a good friend, Wanda McDowell. Preceded in death by: three sons, John S., David S. and Daniel J.; and two brothers, William and Donald.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, with burial in Old Barclay Cemetery, rural Jesup. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
