Marlan "M.D." Dale Groven

Marlan "M.D." Groven, 76, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Altru Hospital, in Grand Forks.
Marlan Dale Groven, was born June 1, 1944, in Mayville, ND., the son of Theodore and Alma (Besrud) Groven. Marlan was baptized and confirmed at Bang Lutheran Church, in Portland. He was raised on the family farm and was educated in Portland, ND. Upon the completion of his education, Marlan worked on the family farm and was employed with S & S Construction, as an equipment operator. Later, he moved to Finley, ND., and was employed with Fetting's Bakery. Following his retirement, he moved to Grand Forks.
He enjoyed country-western music, cowboy memorabilia, electronics and visiting with people. He was a long time member of Aurdal Lutheran Church, in Portland, and attended Sunday Worship Services at United Lutheran Church, in Grand Forks.
He is survived by a brother, Tom Groven, Fargo, ND.; his sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. Ed) Oberlander, Moorhead, MN., Diane (Marlin) Balstad, Hatton, ND., and Rose Sigel, West Palm Beach, FL.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; 2 infant brothers; and a brother-in-law, Ed Oberlander.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2020, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Wednesday.
Interment: Aurdal Lutheran Cemetery, Portland, ND.
