Karen Dougherty Stein, aged 66, passed away peacefully at her home in Saint Cloud, FL on Sunday, October 25, 2020 of natural causes with her husband and dog at her side..

Karen was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1954 and grew up in the MD-DC-VA metropolitan area. In 1992 she married Robert "Bob" W. Stein, III at the Mount Vernon Estate in Alexandria, VA. Karen obtained her Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Prince George's Community College in Largo, MD and was credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). She worked as a RRT at the Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, MD. "PG" as it is known, is the second busiest trauma center in the state of Maryland. She also worked as a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor at INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, VA and as a Respiratory Therapist at St. Cloud Medical Center in Saint Cloud, FL.

Karen is predeceased in death by her parents William C. Dougherty and Dolores (Koury) Dougherty. Surviving family members include her husband Robert "Bob" W. Stein, III, her son Michael L. Simonson, and three grandchildren, Ember Ann Flint, Remy "Jude" Kay Simonson, and Samara "Sam" Riley Flint. Also surviving are three siblings Deborah Ann Hannon, George "Duffy" Dougherty and Anna Marie Lloyd and three sisters-in-law Barbara Ann Goldberg, Madge Henderson, and Linda (Randall) Waycaster. Also surviving is her husband's service animal, Madison, a Pointer / Great Pyernees mix dog.
