Charles traveled to Hermann, MO with his parents in his pre-school years. He was educated in St. George's parochial school, was employed on the Steamer Grapevine with Capt. Sam Heckmann on the Missouri river, for a while at Union Station in St. Louis, MO, and later on construction of dams in the west. In Los Angeles, before his retirement, he was employed as a cement finisher with a construction firm.
He was married in Los Angeles in 1912 to Florence Anderson Heidenry.
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughters, Peggy Unwin and Mary Delaney; his step-sons, Frank J. and James F. Heidenry; his sisters, Stella Engleman, Dora Tousignant, Agnes Habermehl, and Rose Miller; his brothers, Frank, Joseph, and Robert Miller; and several grandchildren.
