Melinda Lee Smith Lewis went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 25, 2014. Melinda was a member of Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
She was born July 15, 1950, in New Orleans, La.
She was preceded in death by her father, Loyd L. Smith; and son, Michael Tomlin.
Survivors include her husband Jack H. Lewis, of Jacksonville; daughter, Amanda Lewis, of Jacksonville; daughter-n-law, Brenda Tomlin, of San Antonio; brother, J.T. Smith and Mary Mazda, of Gilbert, Arizona, sister, Gay Howard and husband Van, of Tyler; grandchildren, Ryan Tomlin and wife Rosa, of San Clemente, Calif., Casey Tomlin and wife Sara, of Clarksville, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren, Mia Tomlin, Isaiah Conner and Landon Michael Tomlin.
Melinda's love for Halloween was so well known; she was covered in newspapers and local news. Melinda loved laughter, life, her family, the YaYa's and the Lord. She loved to give, and Christmas and Halloween were examples of her generosity. Melinda was Woman of the Year in 2004 and 2005 for the Career Women's Civic Club. Melinda was the grand marshal of the Christmas Parade in 2012.
