Rev. Lamar Dietz, D.Min, 87, resident of Ringgold, GA received his eternal reward on Sunday May 30, 2021. Lamar was born to the late Otis and Malinda Dietz on March 17, 1934 on Dietz Rd. in Ringgold near where he ended his journey on this earth.
Lamar was a minister of the gospel for over 62 years receiving two Bachelor of Ministry in 1983, 1984, two Master of Theology in 1983, 1985 and his Doctor of Ministry in 1989 from Covington Theological Seminary. Among the churches he served, he was the beloved pastor of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church in Cleveland for 16 years and retired from Gospel Way Baptist Church in Ringgold after 27 years of service in October 2020.
Lamar was a simple man and loved his family well. He also loved farming, gardening and riding his tractor. He referred to his relaxing as "upholstering his recliner". He always had a joke ready and kept his quick wit until the very end.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 ½ years whom he spoke of as "The Best Part" Sarah Ozelle Arendale Dietz, his son Daniel Lamar Dietz, and sister Faye Martin. Those left behind that will dearly cherish his memory are his children; Edward Nolen (Waynette), Hank Nolen (Barbara), Nancy Stitt (Bill), Joy Bolton, (Jim), Christine Littlejohn (Robbie), daughter in law, Starla Dietz, brother, O.C. Dietz, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He would leave you with one piece of advice: Knowing Jesus as your Savior is all that really matters. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life". KJV (of course).
The family would like to thank Gospel Way Baptist Church for all their love and support for Lamar and Sarah.
The Celebration of Lamar's life will be held on Wednesday. June 2, 2021 at Gospel Way Baptist Church, 31 S. Bowling Lane, Ringgold, GA 30736 at 3:00 pm, with the Rev. Darrell Henry officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-3:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service in the Dietz Cemetery in Ringgold, GA with Billy Paradise, Steve Mozingo, Bill Langston, Jerry Smith Jr, Matt Helton, Steve Garverick and Brad Dietz serving as pallbearers.
