On May 27, 2021, Mark Dwayne Walker from Salem, Utah was finally able to go on his second mission, the one he always talked and dreamed about. Mark was so excited that his heart could not handle it anymore and leapt for joy at his call to serve. We know his heart did break at leaving his wife a.k.a "Lover" (his words, not ours) Vickie Lyn Miller Walker. Their children (the only reason he had us was to have grandkids) Josie "Sis", (Dustin "Sir") Van Orman, Beau "Buddy" Walker, Sammy "Nubbins" Walker and 8 grand kids (his entire world, sorry Mom!) Maggie "Maggie Moodles", (Kaden "Bud") Wiese, Mitchell "Sport" Van Orman, Gibb "Gibbers" Van Orman, Gracie "Sweetheart" Van Orman, Sophie "Toad" Van Orman, Gunner "Gunner Bun" Hall, Paizlie "Sweetpea" Hall, plus parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and, let's face it, everyone reading this.
Mark was one of those lucky ones who was greeted with a huge hug from our Savior and brother, Jesus Christ, along with his grandparents, mother-in-law (we bet she got him with her pink lipstick kiss), aunts, uncles… Oh, just check on FamilySearch.com.
The world welcomed Mark on April 12th, 1956, to Wayne D. and Joy Elaine Cullis Walker, in Murry, Utah, pretty much already reading, which was a good thing, because education was such an important part of his life. Working his way up to becoming a Doctor of Business Administration at California Coast University and finally landing at Tooele Technical College (TTC) as the Director of Custom Fit and Post, which he loved every minute of it, just not the long drive.
Once his club from the good ol' Caveman days at American Fork Highschool was hung up, Mark put on his mission tag and headed to the Orient. Tokyo, Japan where for once in his life he finally felt tall.
Some may say that Friday the 13th is not very lucky. But, for Mark it was, that was the day he met his eternal Foxy Lady Vickie. It did take Mom by surprise that Dad looked like the 1977 Luke Skywalker who could do the cross on the gymnastic rings while wearing his fourth degree black belt. Singing their way to "We've only Just Begun". Six short months later on June 27th 1978 they were sealed for Time and all Eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.
In life, kids would come as they often do Josie, Beau, and Sammy Jo. Mark loved his kids but again, we know full well he only had us just to get his grandkids. While growing up we are guessing, for sanity reasons, he took up shooting, scuba diving and travel. Dad did share his love of these adventures with us and his grandkids. Family was super important to Mark, it didn't matter if you were blood or not. YOU were loved Unconditionally!
Because Mark Loved so unconditionally, his ability to serve in so many different callings from ward to bishop to stake and temple exemplified Christlike Love. Walking down the halls in Church or the Temple you couldn't get away from Mark without getting a smile, a compliment or more than likely a hug. Man, could that Mighty Man make you feel special!
Viewing will be held Thursday June 3rd 2021 from 6-8 pm at Walker Mortuary 187 South Main Street Spanish Fork Utah, 84653. Funeral Services will be Friday June 4th 2021 at 11:00 AM 60 South Main with a viewing prior at 9:45 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. The Interment in Salem City Cemetery.
