Greg was born December 3, 1950 in Blue Earth, MN, the son of Glenn "Tommy" and Mable (Kallestad) Thompson. He graduated from Frost Public School in 1968, and worked a variety of jobs in the Mankato area after that. Greg was united in marriage to Jodell Seltun on February 6, 1982 in Mankato, MN. After their daughter Molly was born, Greg wanted to move back home to be closer to family, settling in Bricelyn, MN, where they welcomed their second daughter Michelle. Greg loved living in a small town; he served as a City Council member in Bricelyn since 1998. He even designed the Bricelyn Centennial logo, "Bricelyn-a good place to call home". After Greg retired from Rembrant Foods, he found his new and most loved job, being a "Manny" to his grandkids, Rowan, Kellen and Keaton. His family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jodi Thompson of Bricelyn, MN; daughters: Molly (Chris) Flo of Albert Lea, MN, and Michelle Thompson of Minneapolis, MN; 3 precious grandchildren: Rowan, Kellen and Keaton Flo; siblings; Barb Pearson of Blue Earth, MN, Connie (Gary) Brekke of Rochester, MN, Mike Hanson of Blue Earth, MN, and Terry (Joyce) Hanson of Frost, MN; in-laws: Roxann (Larry) Kluender of Walters, MN, Mike Seltun of Albert Lea, MN, Dawn (Scott) Langfald of Rake, IA, Susan (Jeff) Beyer of Stewartville, MN, and Jean (Brandon) Hagenson of Kiester, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and their families; his 4-legged companion, "Chuck".
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Maurie Hanson; sister Linda Thompson; brother-in-law Merle Pearson; parents-in-law: Jerry and Loetta Seltun; grandparents: Sam and Serena Thompson, Eddie and Cora Kallestad. He is also preceded in death by many aunts and uncles, including Joe, Ernie, and Neppy, and cousin Stevie, all who greatly impacted his life.
