She was born in Robeson County on October 23, 1932.
Joyce worked many years in the textile industry; during her retirement she enjoyed quilting and spending time with her loved ones. She dedicated her life to the Lord twenty-five years ago. Her wish for all of her family members to be saved. If two words were given to describe her it would be: humble and giving
She was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Locklear; one daughter, Arlene Locklear; one grandson, Gary Maynor; one granddaughter, Shieka Locklear; her parents, Quessie Locklear and Eltis Locklear; and her brother, Quessie Locklear, Jr.
Joyce is survived by her children: Gene Locklear (Ellis), Larry Locklear (Marilyn), Catherine Maynor, Mary Haywood, Sarah Locklear, Benny Locklear, Carol Locklear, Timothy Littke, Melanie Roberson (Mike), Joel Littke (Linda), Jeff Adams, Tammy Hammett (Donnie), Kenny Locklear, and Timmie Locklear; two brothers, Crawford Locklear and Eddie (Peewee) Locklear; six sisters: Marnice Swoap, Caroline Brewer, Goldie Chavis, Sylvia Cummings, Evelyn Hicks, and Sheila Locklear; thirty-six grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
The graveside services will be held at the Locklear-Maynor Cemetery. .
Services has been entrusted to Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs.
