Carol Barnes, 72, of Guthrie, OK passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born December 11, 1948 in Purcell, OK to Calvin C. and Stella Mae (Raines) Selman.
Carol married LeRoy Lee Barnes on December 20, 1966 and they were married for 54 years. To this union, two children were born, Kimberly (Barnes) Betchan and Kevin Barnes. Carol worked as a managing loan officer at Community Loans.
She loved her grandchildren and her dogs, Carol also enjoyed gardening and traveling. She especially loved going on cruises having taken multiple ones with the largest one being a cruise to Alaska. Carol was also an avid camper.
Carol was an active member of the Red Hat Society which she started in Guthrie as well as the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary. She was also a member of the First Christian Church in Guthrie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Stella Selman and her mother-in-law, Ethel Sparks.
Carol is survived by her husband LeRoy, her son Kevin (Carrie) Barnes and daughter Kim (Coy) Betchan. She is also survived by her brother Calvin (Jessica) Selman of Guthrie and four sisters: Donna Keller of Edmond, Jody Ahrnsbrack of Guthrie, Nancy Meek of Edmond, and Diana Hampton of Memphis, TN. Also surviving her are five grandchildren: Levi and Hunter Betchan and Ashton, Ethan, and Eli Barnes as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 19, 2021 at First Christian Church with Pastor Ronnie Fields officiating.
