Virginia "Markoleta" (Mullins) Reed was born on August 15, 1927 in Gould, Oklahoma. She was the second of six children, J.L., Mom, Truman, Marie, Gene, and Eddie born to George and Nora Mullins. In the mid 1930's the family moved to Farmington, New Mexico. There Markoleta graduated from high school in 1945. She lived in Oregon for a short time and then moved to Visalia and lived with her parents on Douglas Street. On September 15, 1947, Markoleta married George Reed in Visalia. There were two children, Janice and Alan born to this union. George and Markoleta were faithful members of the Church of Christ. The original building was at Noble and Giddings. It is now call W.V.C.O.C., located at Caldwell and Linwood. She was very active in the church. Mom was always interested in sewing! She was quite a seamstress! For the last 4 ½ years she resided at Magnolia Park Assisted Living. With great owners and caregivers, Mom enjoyed her time there. George preceeded her in death on April 13, 2008. Markoleta leaves her two children Janice Marvin and husband, Larry, Alan Reed and wife Verna; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. also at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA. Interment will follow immediately at the Visalia Public Cemetery District, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia. Tributes and condolences may be made at www.millerchapel.com.
