Stephen M. Taylor of Jamison died peacefully and surrounded by his family on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Abington Jefferson Health Hospice at Warminster. He was 68.
Stephen was the loving husband of Mary Ellen Bygott Taylor and together they shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James and Rosemarie Ely Taylor.
Stephen graduated from Southern Regional High School in New Jersey before later attending and graduating from Bucks County Community College and Temple University with a degree in Criminal Justice. His roots found him working as a young man for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia where he worked for St. Gabrielle's Detention Center and the St. Francis Home for displaced young men. His true passion for helping kids grow to be the best people they could be was realized and he would eventually work his way up to become the director of Camp Neumann which was owned and operated for many years by the diocese. During his career he would serve at national and international levels, including as a member of the American Camp Association, serving as a conference leader and accreditor.
Between his work and his volunteer service with CYO, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, the Warwick Township Parks and Recreation Board and having served on the board for the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, it should come as no surprise that he influenced and touched the lives of countless kids all around the world.
In semi-retirement, Stephen found another passion and true talent in art, and took just about every art class available to him. This led to countless stained glass, wood carvings, and sculptres (just to name a few) that he would share with friends and family.
Most of all, Stephen will be remembered as a gentle giant whose heart was truly endless. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife, Stephen is survived by his children, Zachary M. Taylor and his fiancé, Jacklyn D'Elia of Jamison, Matt Taylor and his wife, Tiffany, of Furlong, and Patrick S. Taylor of Jamison. He also leaves behind his siblings, Marguerite Willis (late Alan), Rosemarie Farrow and her husband, Wayne, Robert Taylor and his wife, Gail, Maryann Caine (the late Ray), Francis Taylor and his wife, Nancy, David Taylor and his wife, Lynn, and Christopher Taylor and his wife, Kathy; and countless nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James J. Taylor and his sister, Kathryn Taylor.
