Deborah Jo Sanders was born April 30, 1964, in Odessa, Texas, to Phyllis (Kelly) and Dennis Sanders. Debbie was raised in Minot and Des Lacs, ND. She attended Minot Public Schools through the 8th grade. She then attended Des Lacs/Burlington School and graduated from DLBHS in 1982.

Shortly after graduation, Debbie moved to Montana, where she met the love of her life, Roy Mitchell. Debbie and Roy were married December 17, 1983, in Minot, ND. They made their home in Harrison, MT, and then Norris, MT. During this time, Debbie enjoyed bowling, dancing and playing softball.

Debbie and Roy later moved to Des Lacs, ND, where they raised their daughters, Alicia, Brittany and Courtney. Debbie was their biggest fan. The only time she missed a game was when her first grandchild was born.

Debbie and Roy lived in Beulah for a short time before they moved to Lake Audobon. Debbie worked at Animal House Bingo. She then started working as a paraprofessional at DLBHS. This is where Debbie found her true calling. Debbie enjoyed working with the students and helping them learn, not only academically, but life skills, as well. She enjoyed running into former students and hearing how they were doing. Debbie continued working as a paraprofessional in Beulah and Underwood. Deb also did crop surveys for NASS.

Debbie and Roy were blessed with four grandsons and one granddaughter, as well as have one more on the way. Becoming Nana was one of her greatest joys. Debbie enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. She was very proud of all their accomplishments. Debbie enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, family game nights, travelling and going to casinos. She also enjoyed cuddling with Mack. Debbie was a big Minnesota Twins, Timberwolves and Vikings fan.

Her loving family includes: husband, Roy, Coleharbor/Lake Audubon; daughters, Alicia (Mike) Bell, Belgrade, MT, Brittany (Kyle) Marion, Beulah, and Courtney, Mandan; grandchildren, Mason, Miles, Morgan, Maverick and Baby Girl Bell and Ryleigh Marion; sisters, Janice (Rick) Germain, Bismarck, Melissa (Bud) Hornaday, Minot, Brenda (Ryan) Plesuk, Butte, ND, Colette (Dale) Turella, San Antonio, TX, Shelly Lizun, Tolar, TX, and Denise Lizun, Tolar, TX; and step mother, Joyce Sanders, Tolar, TX; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins.

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her step father, Melvin Houston; and her long-time puppy companion, Kaylee.
