Irene Williams, 97, of Northlake, Texas passed away May 13, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born November 1, 1923 in Saint Louis, MO.
During WWII she met Vernon A. Williams Jr. at a USO function at church and after the courting, they married at her church in St. Louis. She became the epitome of a Texas woman. She adapted to her new surroundings in El Paso, Texas. She bore and raised her three children, whom she loved dearly, in El Paso and in La Jolla, CA. and then back to Fort Worth.
She had a strong faith and character. She was beautiful inside and out. Her natural friendly personality and kindness spread to many. She was there to help, plan and share her many talents. She enjoyed gardening, knitting prayer shawls for her church, playing tennis, golf and bridge. She was a gourmet cook and a gracious hostess.
She loved to write letters and receive them, usually signing, "Cheers and Love." Many times, she included, "May you always have love to share, health to spare and friends that care. May you be blessed." One of her favorite prayers was, "The light of God surrounds us. The love of God enfolds us. The power of God protects us. The presence of God watches over us. Wherever we are, God is."
Preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Williams and her parents, Edwin and Irene Moore.
Internment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at a later date...Forest Ridge Funeral Home.
