Robert E. McClain Jr. Retired Boston Police Detective of Norton, passed away, May 28, 2021. Former husband of Heidi D. (Van Leer) McClain of Norton. Father of Robert E. McClain of Norton, Brendan N. McClain of Rhode Island, and Holly R. McClain and her fiance of Norton. Brother of John McClain of Brookline, Richard McClain of Milton, Dennis McClain of Hyde Park, Scott McClain of Brockton, Jaimie Peterson of Wrentham, Paul McLain of Rockland, Neil McClain of Plymouth and the late Edward McClain.
Also survived by his sisters-in-law.
He was a loving son of the late Robert E. Sr. and Jean (Callow) McClain. Bob grew up in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, was a 1968 graduate of Don Bosco High School and a graduate of the Boston Police Academy. A resident of Norton for the past twenty-two years, Mr. McClain was a retired Boston Police Detective, a job he truly loved. He retired following a career that spanned thirty-five years and of which he was a recipient of several awards and accommodations. Bob's three greatest loves in life were his family, his job and playing golf. In his retirement years, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of relaxing at home.
