Gerald Garcia, Jr., 70, peacefully passed away at his home, with loved ones by his side, on Sunday, August 16, 2020, following a period of declining health.

Gerald was born December 3, 1949, in Bakersfield, CA, to Rhetta Belle Nead Garcia, of Scottsdale, AZ, and the late Gerald Garcia, Sr.

Gerald was a 1968 graduate of Garces High School in Bakersfield, California, which he proudly spoke of often. Mr. Garcia had honorably served his country as a staff sergeant with the US Air Force, retiring after 20 years of loyal service. He had served during the Vietnam War, where he was a cargo specialist. He served in Korea, Europe and America and received several service awards and medals. Gerald loved to cook and feed folks, always showing kindness and service to others. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Family members left with cherished memories of Mr. Garcia, in addition to his mother, include his brother, Gregory Garcia and his wife, Judith, of Scottsdale, AZ; and extended family members, especially those who have lovingly cared for Jerry though many years of his health difficulties.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate the life of Gerald will be held on Tuesday, August 25 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at Tipton Hall, 2330 Tipton Drive, Charlotte NC 28206. Light refreshments will be served.
