John Frederick Nickisch

John Frederick Nickisch, age 71, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2021, surrounded by family.

He met the love of his life, Brenda Schultz, in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota, whom he married on May 3, 1968. John was born in Butte on June 24, 1949, to Frederick Jay Nickisch and Mary Margaret Nickisch. He was not only a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, but also an uncle, friend, brother, brother-in-law, teacher, hunter, fisherman, lifesaver and brilliant storyteller. In addition, he was a fireman, the director of emergency services in Rosebud County, and the youngest to have passed the master electrician exam in the state of Montana. He was one of the good guys and an honest hero to many.

John is preceded in death by his parents (Frederick and Mary Nickisch), brother (William Nickisch), and grandchildren (Johnathan and Faith).
John is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Brenda Nickisch; children, Michael Nickisch, Shari Nickisch and Kevin Nickisch (Tracy); siblings, Mary Marceau (Francis), Joe Nickisch, Terry Nickisch (Yvette), Sue Hannah (Rich), Kathy Giesick (Scott), Dan Nickisch (Christie), Steve Nickisch (Kristi); sisters-in-law, Maggie Nickisch Shannon (George), Lisa Forsberg, Sharron Magelssen (Jim), and Donna Walters (Ron); and brother-in-law, Maynard Schultz (Ellen); his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his numerous nephews and nieces; and his faithful companion, Rosie.
