ST. PAUL, VIRGINIA – Mary Ruth Ramsey Combs, 79, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee with her family beside her.
She was born in Russell County, Virginia; daughter of the late Joe W. and Fronia Ramsey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Combs; one daughter, Mildred Faye Mullins; two brothers, Gene Ramsey and J.D. Ramsey; three sisters, Minnie DiGiovanni, Marie Burger, and Mildred Miller; and step-father, Ed Hall. Mary attended the House of the Lord Church in Castlewood, Virginia. She loved her family and was a sweet and humble person.
She is survived by one son, Eddie Joe Asbury and wife, Paula of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; one daughter, Tammy Phillips and husband, Richard of Trammel, Virginia; four sisters, Betty Duncan, Margaret Bradley and husband, Ray, Stella Long, and Linda Trent and husband, Gary, all of Castlewood, Virginia; three granddaughters, Kimberly Aja and husband, Curt Hale of Caney Ridge, Virginia, Marlee Asbury and husband, Brandon Harrison of Bulls Gap, Tennessee, and Victoria Honaker and husband, Shannon of West Virginia; two grandsons, Jackson Phillips and Cossie Phillips, both of Trammel, Virginia; special great-granddaughter and caregiver, Adrianna Shearl; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mary Ruth Ramsey Combs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel in Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Ted Phillips and Rev. George Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Herman Ramsey, Curt Hale, Mason Shearl, Darrell Rasnake, Derik Czadzeck, and Joe Ramsey.
