Sandra Kay Curry Episcopo Bryant left this world on May 27, 2021, after a long, exhausting battle with cancer.
She was born in Plant City, Florida to Ted and Carolyn Curry but moved to Spring Hill, Florida in 1988. She was born and raised alongside her four younger siblings: Debbie, Cathy, Teddy and Pam. She was very close to her siblings and cherished special time with each of them in her final days.
"God loves the giver!" Not only did she always say it but she lived it. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of love and value in helping others less fortunate. She gave until it hurt at times but that is just who she was.
She was an overcomer and believed in hard work. She rode a city bus to college every day as a single mom. One day, she interviewed for a position for Dr. Sydlowski and spent seventeen years with his office. She even worked while going through chemotherapy treatments. She loved her co-workers and boss and considered them to be second family. She adored her patients. So many have said how she went above and beyond to care for them. This is evidenced by the overwhelming amount of flowers and love sent by her patients during her illness.
Our Mother loved music. She loved to sing karaoke, whether it was in Old Town or with her family in the living room. Oh what we would give to hear her sing, "Bobby McGee" one more time. She was also not one to turn down a good dance. Despite her age, she could keep up with the best of them, including her grandkids! She left a journal for the family to read after her passing and in it, she wrote – "I hope you dance." We will, Mom.
She loved to tell people about her grandchildren and she had a very special relationship with each of them. Jeremiah was her strong handsome soldier grandson. She longingly referred to him as her Clown. She loved to "Shop till she dropped and eat till she popped" with Kailyn. Penelope was her "Old Woman" and Cayden was "Her Happy" She called Taylor "WV" as she always said she was like a woman, sitting on the porch in West Virginia wanting to know everything that was happening around her!
She loved her little cousin, who she also considered her son, as she raised him throughout his childhood and teenage years. Michael Teeter, who she nicknamed "Nathan," always held a very special place in her heart.
She was extremely organized and loved a clean house. She enjoyed cooking and no matter what was being served, big or small, she took the time to make the plate pretty. She loved rainy days, cool fall evenings and a good yard sale!
She loved to make people laugh and hated to see people hurting. She did not have a lot of tolerance for nonsense, which made for so much hidden laughter from those who loved her.
The center of her life was her family. She is survived by her oldest daughter Kimberly Luaces and her husband George Luaces, her youngest daughter, Michelle Episcopo, her siblings, Debbie Rodriguez, Cathy Haley, Teddy Curry, Pam Curry and her grandchildren, Jeremiah Kidwell, Kailyn Luaces, Penelope Luaces, Cayden Episcopo and Taylor Luaces.
She chose to end her journey at home, surrounded by family. Her daughters, Kimberly and Michelle, temporarily left their homes and jobs to care for her during her final couple of months. Kimberly was the head nurse and Michelle was her assistant. They also gave her spa treatments, facials, manicures and pedicures at least twice per week. She loved the pampering as she always considered herself to be a girly girl.
We found this Bible verse hand written on her bookshelf, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful - 2 Timothy 4:7
She sure did….but our Mom became fragile and grew weary from the battle. The day finally came when she made the decision to lay down her sword, hold our hands, shed a couple of tears and take her final breath before running into the arms of Jesus. We know that He greeted her with a huge hug. We can only imagine that she's now surrounded by loved ones she has missed so much.
We love you and it was our great honor to be raised by you.
Forever and a day…
