Harry is survived by his children, Wayne Powell, Charlene (Powell) Lamley, Richard Powell, Paul Powell, Evan Powell, and their families to include 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Stephanie Powell.
Harry was a true American Hero, who proudly fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired from the Army after 22 years of honorable service. A hardworking provider for his family and a jack of all trades, Harry served as a Tulane Police Officer, locksmith, entrepreneur, and security guard following his retirement from the Army. He was a life-long marathon runner and athlete who took great pride in participating in sports at his local Senior Center well into his 80's. Harry was loved by all who knew him and was guaranteed to brighten any room with his genuine smile and contagious laugh.
Harry will be laid to rest in a graveside ceremony with military honors on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery located at 34888 Grantham College Dr. in Slidell, LA 70460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Harry Powell Jr. may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the Wounded Warrior Project.
