John William Huber
July 28, 1943 - May 27, 2021

John William Huber, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2021 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

John was born on July 28, 1943 in West Homestead, PA, and was the second child of Francis and Anna Mae (Gehrig) Huber. He attended Homestead High School in the Pittsburgh area. A scholar and an athlete, John attended Grove City College on a football scholarship where he earned an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering in 1965.

After college, John went on to become a respected and accomplished executive and was a proud graduate of Harvard Business School's program for management development. He was at the helm of numerous successful companies throughout his remarkable 55-year career. To his core, John was a leader, a problem solver, and an eternal optimist, who valued relationships and his employees above all else. He also loved being active and working with his hands. An engineer at heart, John never came across a project that he couldn't tackle – even if it required a climb to the top of a 15-foot ladder.

Those who knew him best knew he was never one to sit still –from the days of cheering on his two sons at tennis matches to his extensive travels during retirement – he was always on-the-go. He also enjoyed a vibrant social life and would never say no to an opportunity to get together with friends.

John is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Eileen, his sons Michael (Brighid) and Sean (Lucia), a beloved granddaughter Ella Mae and grandson expected this July, as well as many relatives and a wonderful circle of friends. John is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Anna Mae, and his daughter Rochelle Hallett.

To know John was to love him. He had an amazing sense of humor, an extremely generous heart and was deeply dedicated to his family. John was truly one of a kind and will shine on eternally, in all of our shared love and memories.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC. The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11:00am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1100 8th Avenue North, North Myrtle Beach, SC. Burial will be on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 1:00pm at Six Oaks Cemetery, 175 Greenwood Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
