Funeral services for George Wesley Channell, 82, one of Montgomery Counties most progressive farmers, was conducted at Bethel Church, Monday afternoon May 24th at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. J.A. Weeks of Kilmichael. Burial was made in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Oliver Funeral Home. Masonic rites were given at the graveside.

Active pallbearers were B.A. Austin, Bowers Black, Ansell, Curtis Lewis Ward, Jack Chapman, and Shelby Pace.

Mr. Channell succumbed May 23rd at the family residence near Huntsville. He had suffered a heart attack and had been seriously ill for a week.

Mr. Channell was born Feb. 13, 1866, at Tuscaloosa, Ala., but for the past 20 years, he had lived in the Huntsville Community where he was always in religious, civic and political affairs of his communtiy. He was a member of Bethsaida Church.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Kate Tyler Channell, Huntsville; three daughters, Mrs. A.B. Austin, Mrs. Edgar Black and Mrs. Bowers Black all of French Camp; three sons, Beenie Channell, Magnolia, Wesley Chanell, Poplar Creek and Fred Channell, Durant; one sister, Mrs. Laura Mahoon, two brothers, Ben Channell, Winona; Major Channell of French Camp and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
