Mrs. R. Applewhite Services were held at Poplar Springs Sunday, June 12th, at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Rebecca Ann Green Applewhite, who died at her residence near Poplar Creek on June 10th. The Rev. McMillian officiated and interment was under the direction of Lee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Applewhite was born in Montgomery county on May 16, 1867, and was married to the late Mr. Verginis Applewhite. She was a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Stella Varner, Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Allie Mae Farris and Mrs. Sallie Farris, both of Shawnee, Okla., Mrs. Laddie Oliver of Glen Allen, Miss., Mrs. Maggie Brantley and Mrs. Josie Thompkins, both of Kilmichael; one son, J. B. Applewhite, Poplar Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Gentsy Walker, Poplar Creek, Miss Cornelia Green and Mrs. Mamie Chesteen, Kilmichael; five brothers, Joe Green, Paducah, Ky., Jim Green, Louise, Miss., Sam Green, Kilmichael, Alvin and Allen Green, both of Poplar Creek, 36 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were E. L. Varner, J. M. Varner, Joe K. Applewhite, Baylis Farris, Hugh Tompkins and Tommy Tompkins.
