His parents were William Banks (1782-1869) & Elizabeth Banks Banks (1785-1856). His parents had the same family name. His paternal gparents were Drury Banks, served in Revolutionary War, & Mary Elizabeth George. His maternal gparents were Charles Banks,Jr & Mary Gibson Banks. He married Sarah C Chambers April 4,1850. They had nine known children. He served as a Pvt. Co. F, Calvalry Bn., Phillips Legion, GA Vols., received battlefield commission, awarded the Southern Cross of Honor by Annie Wheeler Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy.
