Lafayette Elsea,83, life-long resident of Hancock county, died at 12:30 o'clock this morning at his residence, 307 Lima avenue from cancer of the face. He had been in failing health for five years.
Mr Elsea was the son of Moses Elsea and Mary Ann Oman. He was married Dec 24 1874 to Katherine Keel who died oct 11, 1912. He was again maried in 1914 to Agnes Kesey who died Oct 1925.
He is survived by one son Dallas E. Elsea, Marion township, one daughter Mrs. willis Creighton, 210 West Hardin street, one sister Mrs Mary A. Newell 221 west Lincoln street, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr Elsea was one of a family of 11 children
He was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church and the Brotherhood class of the church. He served at on time as a trustee of Eagle township. He was a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the First M.E. church with Rev. F. Bringle McIntosh and Rev. L.B. Smith officating. The body will be placed in the mausoleum at Maple Grove cemetery.
