Howard Elliot Chin passed away peacefully near his home in Everett, WA on April 24, 2021. He was 73 years old.

Howie, known as "Butch", was the eldest of William and Dorothy Chin of Everett WA. Howie was born December 16, 1947.

Howie worked in the family business most of his life. He attended Whittier Elementary, Immaculate Conception, St. Martins Prep, Everett High, and Seattle U (1970). Howie was proud of growing up in Everett. He kept close track of his friends, classmates, teachers, and neighbors.

Howie loved History and politics and was known for his keen observations in both those fields. He Worked and help manage the family business. Howie's personality appeared larger than life. He was lighthearted and enjoyed being a comic. He could Mimic celebrities and he loved to sing the early 60's hit songs. He played football at Everett High and played trumpet in the school Band. At Seattle U he will be remembered as the "Mongol Tiger" because of his boxing skills where as a Heavy underdog he handily won his match.

Howie's great passions were horses and chess. In 1967 he led his high school Chess team to the State Championship tournament where it placed 3rd. He was the first recepient of a college chess scholarship from the Washington State Chess Federation. Howie also coached Chess at O'dea High and Lynnwood High. Howie loved thoroughbred horse racing. He managed the family racing stable and achieved the 2nd best win record over 2 yrs.

Howie loved his family. He held no grudges and was proud of his family's accomplishments. He will be missed by those who knew him.

Howie is survived by his siblings John, Rosalyn, Ron, Bill Jr. and Tom. His mother, father and sister Tamara preceded him in death. Also surviving are his in-laws Virginia, Suana, Susan, Mable, Patrick and his 23 nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass is scheduled June 2, 2021 at 11am, St Mark Catholic Church. 18033 15th PL NE, Shoreline WA. Buriel following at Holy Rood Cemetery.
