Richard Lee Abbott December 3, 2020 Richard "Dick" Abbott, 82, of Camillus passed away peacefully on December 3 with his wife of 53 years at his side. Dick was beloved as a husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, neighbor and friend, with a kind, calm, easy-going nature, that endeared him to so many. Born in Elbridge, NY, he was a son of the late John and Shirley Abbott, and graduated from Elbridge High School before proudly serving in the United States Army. He married his love Mary Beth and settled in her childhood home on Tipperary Hill, raising four sons. Dick embraced family and community there, rarely missing a sporting event, recital, or ceremony of his sons or grandchildren. He was a parishioner of St Patricks Parish. Dick coached little league for West End PBA, "assisted" with the kids paper routes and was a dedicated supporter of Fowler High School sports and events, well after his children graduated. Dick retired after many years with Onondaga County's Metro Plant, but also loved working the State Fair parking lots each Summer. He could park Belle Isle lot with his eyes closed. Dick enjoyed his more than 40 summers with family and the camp community at Brennan's Beach, and in retirement, many Winter stays in Port Charlotte. He loved a good Manhattan, and was a formidable opponent at Thursday night pitch league. From its inception, Dick volunteered at the Tipp Hill Shamrock Run, and in 2017, with Mary Beth, were honored as co-Grand Marshals of the Run, a day he cherished. Richard is predeceased by his brother, John and sister, Barbara Kincaid. He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth (Ryan) Abbott; four children, Richard (Donna), Sean (Tina), Chris (Carrie) and Brian ; brother, Joseph (Carol), sister ,Margaret Wall, sister-in law, Carole and brother in law, Bill Kincaid; 11 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm – 7:00pm on Tuesday at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association or the St Patrick & St Brigid Food Pantry. Share condolences at edwardjryanandson.com
