Marion - Doris L Jacobs (Morthland), of 981 Sheridan Rd., Marion, Ohio died peacefully with her sister holding her hand, on Sunday the 27th of December, 2020. Doris was a surprise to her parents, John and Helen Morthland (Tron), when she was born on January 22, 1932, because she was 1 of 2. She and her identical twin, Dora, were inseparable. They talked or visited daily. It broke her heart when leukemia took Dora in 1977. Doris's maternal family name, Tron, is well known in Marion. Her farmer grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents were among the original settlers of Marion County near LaRue.

Two brothers, Russell E. Morthland and Allen D. Morthland and a sister, Dora McCoy Erwin (Morthland) predeceased her. She is survived by her sister, Carol M Wilson (Morthland) and husband, Richard Wilson, of Delaware. Doris was very proud of her nephew, Terry Lee McCoy, along with his wife, Mary McCoy (Thomas) of Richwood. They were devoted to her and thrilled to spend time together and share their children and grandchildren. Another nephew, Mark Cramer and his wife Debbie Cramer (Imbody) of LaRue, took her on a number of lovely trips including Maui, Hawaii. Other nephews: Roger A. Morthland (deceased) of Illinois, and Roger A. Morthland of Marion. Her niece is Melanie Schropp (Morthland) and husband, Arnie Schropp, of Fredericktown. Doris had 2 children: a son, Thomas E. Jacobs (deceased) and a daughter, Jill Colleen Bidwell (Jacobs) and husband, Gary Bidwell, of Marion. She also leaves 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Her favorite "almost granddaughters" were the Wenig sisters, Stefani and Alyssa, along with their parents Kim and Dan Wenig. Born at home in New Bloomington, Doris lived most of her life there until moving to Marion in the 80s. Doris loved her 18 years at Marion General, where she worked as a post-surgery LPN.

Doris was happily married for 40 years to the first and only boy she ever dated - Donald C. Jacobs. For 30 of those years, she and Don worked together to fight his MS. Don was well known with the Erie Railroad and ham radio communities. His ashes will be buried with Doris. Funeral services will be given by Chaplain Jeff Slider at graveside in the Agosta Cemetery, New Bloomington on Wednesday, December 30th at 4:30PM. The cemetery is just off Rt. 95 (Marion/Agosta Rd.), South of the Methodist Church on Superior St.

In lieu of flowers, please think of the American Heart Association.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Passages Assisted Living at Willow Brook in Delaware and the loving and capable folks at Hospice for their care and caring.
