Graveside services for Mr. David Leon Dodd, 62, of Laneville, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche, Texas with James Walker officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
Mr. Dodd passed from this life on May 26, 2021, at UT Health East Texas in Henderson.
He was born October 22, 1958, in Kermit, Texas.
David was raised, and spent most of his life, in Houston and has lived in Laneville near his family for the last 11 years.
Mr. Dodd owned and operated his own pool maintenance company and was very knowledgeable and experienced in his field. He later worked with his sister and brother-in-law at Walker Stake Company.
As a young man, David loved to surf and enjoyed comic books. He was also a fan of science fiction and loved Star Wars and Star Trek.
He was an excellent craftsman and was very artistic and creative.
David was a humorous man that could make you laugh, and he was a wonderful brother, son, and father.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Dodd; mother, Janie Dodd; and his brother, Milton Dodd.
Survivors include his daughter, Cayla Renea Dodd of Hazelwood, Missouri; step-daughter, Courtney Renea Smith of Katy; sisters, Davolyn Walker and husband Dewayne, and Teena Bradbury and husband Scott, all of Laneville; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas at 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
