Jay Dee Cunningham, 96, died on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born November 4, 1924 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas to Basil Glen Cunningham and Alta Vesta (Weems) Cunningham. He proudly served his country for the US Army from June 1943 to January 1946, serving in the India-Burma Theatre. A few of his hobbies were woodworking, fishing and traveling. Some of his favorite places to travel were Fairbanks, Alaska, Colorado and New Mexico. For many years, he was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, as well as First Baptist Church in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. He worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in Tonkawa and Shawnee until his retirement. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ludie Jane (Ellis) Cunningham; brother, Glen Cunningham and wife Myra; and nephew, Bobby Cunningham. He was survived by two daughters, Claudia (Daryl) McKeown and Sue Ann Clark and Richard Patrick; four grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Jay (Jennifer) McKeown, Jason Eggleston, Breean (Chris) Hail, and Kerry McKeown; six great-grandchildren, Jayke Eggleston, Jaycee Eggleston, Thomas McKeown, William McKeown, Kagan Hail, and Clara Hail; two great-great grandchildren, Gabriel Eggleston and Elowen Eggleston; uncle, McKinley Weems; nephew, Leslie (Terri) Cunningham; two nieces, Kathy Cunningham and Guy Richardson, and Cheryl Burilson; as well as a host of other family and friends.
