Lemuel was a lifetime member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a 1957 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School, and a veteran of the United States Army. Lemuel retired from McQuay in 2000 with thirty-four years of service, and following retirement he drove a school bus for Augusta County Transportation until 2012. He enjoyed camping, yard work, listening to music, and dearly loved his great-granddaughters.
In addition to his wife, Charlene S. Kerby of fifty-nine years and parents, Mr. Kerby was preceded in death by a son, Mark S. Kerby; a brother, Wayne M. Kerby; and three sisters, Inez Burns, Opal Craig, and Sue Wright.
Surviving are two grandsons, Justin M. Kerby and daughter, Luna and Jeremy S. Kerby and his wife, Brittany and daughter, Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Gina K. Henderson and husband, Jeff, all of Stuarts Draft; a brother, Emmet "Sonny" Kerby and his wife, Helen; a sister, Elizabeth Graves, all of Waynesboro and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021, in the Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery by Pastor David Vaughan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stuarts Draft Volunteer Fire Company, Post Office Box 548, Stuarts Draft, Virginia 24477 or Augusta Health Foundation, c/o Hospice of the Shenandoah, Post Office Box 1000, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.
