Jeremey was the son of Deacon Jerome Sims and Rosemary Sims. He was educated in the Sumter County School System and was a Class of 2008 graduate of Sumter County High School in Americus, Georgia. While in high school, he lettered in several sports and received a football scholarship to play college football. He attended Fort Valley State Univeristy in Fort Valley, Georgia, Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia and South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia. On December 18, 2015, JJ graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of Recreational Management from Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He continued his studies at the Oklahoma Center for Professional Studies receiving a certificate of completion in the field of Law Enforcement. He earned marksmanship awards in Firearms safety, firing and handling and completed courses in Security Guard operations, sports water diving , kayak operations, horseback riding, motor boat tubing and jet ski operations. He was employed as a Sales Consultant at Maher Chevrolet, one of the largest dealership in St. Petersburg, Florida.

He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia under the leadership of Pastor Leonard Boston, where he served as a percussionist and musician. He shared his musician and acting talents in several community Churches including Friendship Baptist Church in Desoto, Georgia, Oak Grove Baptist Church in Ellaville, Georgia, Union Oak Grove Church in Americus, Georgia and Antioch Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. On multiple occasions, Jeremey gathered his friends in Oklahoma and Florida to feed the hungry by purchasing and serving meals.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jack Sims and Bertha Sims, his maternal grandmother, Lessie Reese, 1 aunt, Imogene Sims Harris and 1 uncle, Arthur Sims.

2 Daughters: Jamia Sims and Averree Sims.

1 Brother: Jarvis Sims.
Maternal Grandfather: Jake Reese Sr.
8 Aunts: Jurilene Morgan(Ralph), Jessie Sims, Mandy Sims, Margaret Harvey(Dennis), Annie Biggins(Eddie), Betty Rivers(Major), Susie Kearse(Jehovah) and Tawanna Reese(Donta).
10 Uncles: Robert Sims(Della), Wilbert Sims(Helen), Ervin Sims, Leonard Sims, Eddie Biggins(Annie), Jake Reese Jr(Mary), Jimmy Reese(Nancy), Robert Reese(Vanessa), David Reese(Minister Tonya) and Tommy Reese(Sandra).

Services were held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 1PM in the Sanctuary of Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.
