Phyllis J. (Giles) Nelson was born on Sunday; April 8, 1928 in New Boston; Mercer County, Illinois. Phyllis was the daughter of: Willard and Bessie Jackson Giles. She graduated from Joy High School in 1946 and attended McMurray College in Jacksonville; Morgan County, Illinois and the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport; Scott County, Iowa. Phyllis was employed as a Secretary for area attorneys, worked at the Joy Bank and assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm. She was a member of the Joy United Methodist Church, Joy Methodist Women, the Golden Links Club, Mercer VFW Post #1571 Auxiliary, Mercer County YMCA and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed square dancing, polka, bowling, traveling and playing cards in area card clubs. She loved the farm especially the horses and she enjoyed her family and their sporting events.

Her two daughters: Sandy & her husband: Don Riddell of Aledo, Illinois. Pam & her husband: Doug Burg of Willow Street; Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Her two grandchildren: David & his wife: Chrissy Riddell of Andover; Henry County, Illinois. Josh Burg of Willow Street, Pennsylvania. Her two great grandchildren; Conner and Zack Riddell of Andover, Illinois. She was preceded in death by: her parents, one son: Larry Bruce Nelson and one grandson; Adam Burg. May they rest in peace.
