PFC Daniel Splann served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. He was wounded in action on 19 February 1944 on Engebi Island, Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands, while serving with Co. D, 1st Battalion, 22nd Marine Regiment. He died of his wounds on 21 February 1944.
