Janet Caroline Hall was born May 28, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky to the union of James and Joann Carson. Janet had three children, Jennifer Miles, Justice and Jamaica Hall. Janet was affectionately called "Jan" by family and friends, while her daughters loved to call her "Gal".

Confessing her faith in Christ, Janet was baptized at a very young age and was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship of Antioch after relocating to Brentwood, CA in 2010.

Janet had a high regard for learning. While having fun as kids, she would often act as the teacher while playing school with her siblings. Serving only as the second African American in her class, Janet graduated with Honors from the prestigious University of Louisville Nursing School, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1989. With a passion for acute care, Janet prided herself on being an exemplary registered nurse. Janet served over 30 years in the Intensive Care, Critical Care, Recovery and Emergency Units at Grady Health System and Wellstar Cobb Hospital (Georgia), Kaiser Permanente and Alta Bates Summit Medical Center (California), Supplemental Health Care and Erie County Medical Center (New York), University of Louisville Medical Center, Audubon Regional Medical Center, and Saint Anthony Medical Center (Kentucky). She was professionally affiliated with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

An avid traveler, Janet enjoyed vacationing to beautiful destinations with family and friends. Some of her favorite vacations were mother-daughter trips to the Dominic Republic with Jamaica and Cabo San Lucas with Jennifer; traveling to various Hawaiian Islands with her sister Shannon; family trips on Carnival Cruise and to Walt Disney World Resorts.

Janet loved coffee and was a collector of Starbucks cups, colored G-2 pens, and fine jewelry, especially colored stone bracelets. Jan's colleagues often teased at how she meticulously matched scrubs to her jewelry and flowered hair clips each shift! Janet loved fast cars and road trips. It brought her joy to ride with the windows down while playing music. Her most favorite songs were "You Brought The Sunshine" by The Clark Sisters', "Anthem of Praise" by Richard Smallwood & Vision, and "Savage" by Meg the Stallion and CardiB. Her zest for life is what brought joy to others.

Janet loved being a mother! God blessed Janet with three beautiful children—Jennifer from a previous marriage with childhood love James Leo Miles Jr., and Justice and Jamaica with friend and former husband, Carlton Hall. She adored walks with her furbaby Duke and enjoyed visits from grand-pup Twix.

Coming from very humble beginnings, Janet was extremely driven, hardworking, and fiercely dedicated. She never settled for mediocracy and expected the same from others. Unquestionably, there was no family member or friend she did not help during a time of need. Janet was beautiful inside and out with a heart of gold—her eyes told a story that ran deep, while her smile warmed a room. Jan continued to smile even while carrying her cross.

Our Heavenly Father called her home the early morning of Saturday September 26, 2020. Janet's memories will be cherished by daughters Dr. Jennifer Miles (Texas) and Jamaica Hall (Georgia); son, Justice Hall (Kentucky); siblings: Michael and Michelle Carson (Kentucky), Darrell Carson (Florida) and Debra Carson (Kentucky), Audrey and Shannon Carson (California), Dorothy and Joseph Carson (Georgia), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Janet was preceded in death by mother, Joann Carson; father, James Hollins; sisters, Susan Carson and Lisa Carson.
