Berwick, ME - William Carl Cross, Jr. of Berwick, ME and Poinciana, FL. Passed away on May 10, 2021. William was born October 1,1950 in Baltimore, MD to William and Marion Cross. He was well loved and his life was well lived! He has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by his wife of 48 years Tuoi, his children Dawn, Lisa, Little Bill, and their families.
"Greywolf" as he was known to some, "Bill" as he was known to most, and "Pop Pop—the man, the myth, the legend"- as he was known to many was a gentle, loving and giving man. A man who cared deeply for not just his family but for those in his community. Bill was proud and honored to have served in the United States Air Force for 20 years from 1967-1987 and with the Berwick Police Department for 16 years from 1988-2004. An active member of the Blue Knights of Maine V, and the Combat Veterans Association Maine Chapter 17-1, he always made a point to honor individuals and their families who are active duty or veterans, especially those died in combat or line of duty. Bill was also a member of St. John's Lodge # 51 A.F. & A.M.
Consumed by inexhaustible wanderlust, Bill's sense of adventure and love of road trips brought him and his wife to many different places, sometimes by car, sometimes by RV, but mostly by motorcycle. He loved to ride, and even when his health made it impossible, he never gave up the idea of getting back out on the road.
Family was a pivotal axis of Bill's life. He felt privileged to be the patriarch, father, grandfather and great grandfather to our large family. He was, above all, passionate and extremely proud of his family, and a significant presence in the lives of his grandchildren: Zachary, Madison, Jacob, and Elizabeth Gray, Abigal and Jonathan Randazzo, and Emma and Asher Cross. In his later years, he cherished his role as great-grandchildren to Mia and Julien Gray and Alaina Strate.
Bill will be forever remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, caring heart, unconditional love and his amazing head of silver hair. Although our hearts are heavy, we celebrate his life and find comfort that he is riding high in the stars, howling at the moon and watching over us.
Bill is survived in legacy by his wife, Tuoi Cross of Poinciana, Fl; brother Joseph Cross of Clackamas, OR; his three children Dawn Gray of Portland, ME, Lisa Randazzo of Berwick, ME and Billy Cross of Lompoc, CA; and his eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many longtime family and friends from around the United States.
All are welcome for visitation at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 62 Cemetery Road, Berwick on Sunday May 23rd from 2-4 PM. Funeral services will be Monday, May 24th; 10 AM at the Berwick United Methodist Church, 37 School St. Berwick. Everyone attending the service at the church is asked to wear a mask. Burial with full military honors will follow at 12 noon at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Springvale.
