Marie Kottkamp Randall Baker
11/29/1927 - 5/15/2021

Longtime Eugene resident Marie Randall Baker died May 15, 2021 at home with her husband, Ted at her side. She was 93.
Born in Portland, Marie Kottkamp was the oldest of John and Anna Kottkamp's children. A lifelong Oregonian, Marie was raised in a loving family along with her brothers John and David within the German community of Northeast Portland. Her Schnell family relation was meaningful to her throughout her life as she always cherished her aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graduate of Jefferson High School, Marie fell in love with fellow classmate, Del Randall, whom she married in 1949. Following Del's graduation from Oregon State College, Marie and Del settled in Eugene to build a family, a business and lifelong friendships. Steve, Mark and Bruce were born which allowed Marie to demonstrate her loving manner and to create new friendships with other new mothers. Joining the Junior League gave Marie an opportunity to meet people and serve her community, which she did until her final years. Cheering on the boy's sports, participating in PTA school groups, her 70 year relationship with First Congregational Church and engaging with her Bridge Club and Friday Lunch Bunch were highlights of her life. During this time, Marie began her commitment to volunteerism and reading. Working for the Retired Volunteers Association allowed her to connect people to organizations in need. Working in the library at Ellis Parker School allowed her to teach good reading habits and expand children's minds.
Following Del's untimely death in 1982, Marie married Ted Baker and began a new chapter in her life that allowed her to celebrate her growing family, travel extensively and give back to the Eugene community she loved. Always present for the birth of her grandchildren, she loved being "Grandma Marie" and celebrated as many occasions as possible making each grandchild feel as special as they are. It would be hard to calculate the hundreds of trips up I-5 to Portland she and Ted made in order to be present. Marie loved the ocean so winters on Maui and summers at the beach house were annually enjoyed. She and Ted made many trips to Europe to experience new countries and cultures, but her heart was always in Eugene. Her commitment to the community included serving on numerous charitable boards including the Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation and supporting capital campaigns at the Eugene Library and Pearl Buck Center, among others.
Marie will always be remembered for her warm and gracious style. She was interested in meeting people, learning about them and making them feel special. She valued her family, her church, and her community.
Marie is survived by her husband Edwin "Ted" Baker of Eugene, her brother David Kottkamp of Bend and her children Steve and Kitzie Randall, Mark and Barbara Randall and Bruce and Tracy Randall of Lake Oswego and Portland along with her stepchildren Bridget and Keith Kincaid of Creswell, Mandy and John Barber of Corvallis and Jon and Jeannette Baker of Bellingham, WA. Additionally, Marie is survived by her grandchildren Travis, Annie, David, Cole, John, Sarah, Andrew, Ben, Jay, Kaitlin, Erin and Daniel along with 11 great-grandchildren.
Family services will be held with burial at Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorial donations in Marie's honor can be made to SMART Reading or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
