EAST LIVERPOOL - Ina May Nicholson, 96, formerly of Irondale, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, Jan. 2, 2009, at the Nentwick Convalescent Center, where she had been a resident.

She was born May 15, 1912, in Irondale, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Margaret (Bailey) Davis.

Ina worked for 12 years as a former correspondence reporter at the Evening Review in East Liverpool.

She served as past president of the Irondale American Legion Auxiliary (1955-1956); past grand matron of the Rebekah Lodge 704; and was a member of the former Irondale Presbyterian Church.

Ina was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Allen "Skimmie" Nicholson on March 21, 1989. They were married on June 15, 1929. She was also preceded in death by two sons, David Nicholson, who was a P.O.W. during the Korean War and Bruce Nicholson; two sisters, Opal Romic and Erla Johnson; and four brothers, William Davis, Charles Davis, Ray Davis and Gerald Davis.

Survivors include two daughters, Jane Taggart and her husband Dean, of Highlandtown, and Dana Kay Anderson and her husband Daniel, of Empire; three sons, Howard "Bud" Nicholson and his wife Alta, of Angleton, Texas, Donald Nicholson and his wife Elizabeth, of Angleton, Texas, and Dorman Lynn Nicholson and his wife Faye, of Elkhart, Ind.; three sisters, Olive Holcomb, of Vancouver, Wash., Gloria Gill, of Hammondsville and Shirley Vander Jagt, of Cadillac, Mich. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St., Wellsville, with Pastor John Keenan officiating. Burial will follow in Highlandtown Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
